My daughter is on the tiny side…she’s only 29 inches tall at a little over a year! I know the numbers don’t really make a different right now, but I wanted to be able to chart her progress, and I’ve been wanting to create something that will capture her measurements as she grows up. Because I know that in the blink of an eye, she’ll be a teenager and won’t even let me know try to stick her against a wall to chart her!!
I had been debating whether or not I buy something to adhere to the wall, or have my husband build something. The problem is that those things that stick to the walls usually end up ruining your paint…and trying to find time to have my husband make anything just isn’t going to happen right now with his stressful work schedule. So of course, I was absolutely thrilled when Wooden Grove asked if I’d review their Growth Chart!
I chose the Maple color, which is the lightest of their options. It fits in perfectly with the color and design of our house, and what struck me most when I opened it up is the quality. I can hardly believe this is real wood–it’s SO smooth and beautiful!! They machine-engrave the notches, along with your name, and the precision is perfect. I know you might not think about it, but considering that my husband does a lot of woodwork as a hobby, I know how hard it is to perfect something like this, and Wooden Grove does an amazing job!
We hung our Growth Chart near the kitchen. It’s a perfect spot in between the living room and kitchen dining area, and I love to look at it because it’s so beautiful! Another option would have been for us to mark up our wall with growth achievements, but honestly…that’s the worst idea ever. What if they smudge, you want to re-paint, or you MOVE?! (Which is currently what we’re going to be taking a look at in the next few months, so thankfully we didn’t do any wall marks!)
The hardest part for me was getting Bear to stand still. She’s only a year and a few months old, so she doesn’t really understand staying still so you can mark her height! But my mother in law helped out and we got a good marker for her! If you have multiple kids, a great idea would be to use different colors for each one! I went the uncreative route and chose black, but that’s just because I was in a rush and knew that I had probably about 2.3 seconds to mark her before all the kittens broke loose LOL.
Either way, she was a great sport and we absolutely LOVE our growth chart! If you’re looking for a creative gift, or something for your own family to measure their height as they grow, keep Wooden Grove in mind for these beautiful and functional pieces!!
What are you currently using to measure your kids’ heights? Anything? I’d love to know!! Send me a comment or an email!!
A huge thank you to Wooden Grove for sponsoring this post in the form of a Growth Chart. I absolutely LOVE it! All opinions given are 100% real and my own.
